Allama Iqbal Poet of East

The poet of East. the great political thinker, the philosopher and the leader of the nation, Allama Mohammad Iqbal is my favorite poet. His poems are not only to read and praise the thought and presence of mind of the poet, but there are messages, lessons and an enthusiastic invitation to the Muslims of the sub-continent.
Allama Iqbal was a philosopher also and he was well versed both in Western and Eastern philosophy. He compared the Western philosophy with that of the Eastern and identified the defects of the Western philosophy. His books of poem such as Asrar-e-Khudi, Romooz-e-Bekhudi, Shikwa, Jawab-e-Shikwa, Baal-e-Gibrail. have the highest philosophical thoughts, through his poems. He reminded us about the bravery and love with Islam of our fore fathers and compared the defects of the Muslims of present era with them and proved that due to change in our character, forgetting the lessons and accomplishments of our forefathers, we are suffering from the present problems. He also gave the lesson of Khudi.
He rejected the formula of the western nationalism. In this regard, he said that the Muslims all over the world, is a nation and no geographical or regional differences bifurcate Muslims from one another, and their ideology called Millat,
Allama Iqbal not only put up the philosophy of Islam but also invited the Muslims to know their reality and truth and proved that they are far difference from the character of other religions. He said to the Muslims. It was the untiring efforts of the Allam Iqbal that the Muslims of the Sub-Continent woke up from the deep dream, broke the chain of slavery and, as a result, they were awarded a country of their own.
He had true and real love with Islam and his poems reflects and proves the fact of devotion with Islam.

Dr Muhammad Iqbal, widely known as Allama Iqbal, was a great poet, big philosopher and politician, he was also an academic, barrister and scholar in the United Kingdom who is widely regarded as having inspired the Islamic country (Pakistan) Movement.

Allama Dr Iqbal was born at Sialkot, Punjab Pakistan, on 9th November, 1877 of a pious family of small merchants and was educated at Government College, Lahore. In Europe from 1905 to 1908, he earned his degree in philosophy from the University of Cambridge, qualified as a barrister in London, and received a doctorate from the University of Munich. His thesis, The Development of Metaphysics in Persia, revealed some aspects of Islamic mysticism formerly unknown in Europe.

On his return from Europe, he gained his livelihood by the practice of law, but his fame came from his Persian- and Urdu-language poetry, which was written in the classical style for public recitation. Through poetic symposia and in a milieu in which memorising verse was customary, his poetry became widely known, even among the illiterate. Almost all the cultured Indian and Pakistani Muslims of his and later generations have had the habit of quoting Iqbal.

Before he visited Europe, his poetry affirmed Indian nationalism, as in Naya shawala ("The New Altar"), but time away from India caused him to shift his perspective. He came to criticise nationalism for a twofold reason: in Europe it had led to destructive racism and imperialism, and in India it was not founded on an adequate degree of common purpose. In a speech delivered at Aligarh in 1910, under the title "Islam as a Social and Political Ideal," he indicated the new Pan-Islamic direction of his hopes. The recurrent themes of Iqbal's poetry are a memory of the vanished glories of Islam, a complaint about its present decadence, and a call to unity and reform.
